JEFF SCHROEDER is in his third year as the Theatre Director at Sam Barlow. Before teaching, Mr. Schroeder had produced and directed over twenty theatrical productions in his career. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a Master of Theatre Education from Portland State University. Mr. Schroeder loves teaching at Barlow and enjoys encouraging students in their gifts and striving for excellence.
Mr. Schroeder directed Anything Goes (2014); Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 (2015); Joseph And The Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat (2015) and David & Lisa (2016). Schroeder also directed Bang, Bang Youre Dead (2016), a school violence advocacy production that recievced 1st Place at the Oregon State Chapter Select One-Act Festival and was selected to perform in Lincoln, Nebraska at the International Thespian Festival (June 2016). While attending the festival in Nebraska, the theatre department also received 1st Place at the Group Musical Theatre category of the National Individual Events Showcase, where they performed their award winning group musical in front of 5,000 high school students, teachers and professionals. Additionally, the department was recognized for receiving 1st place in the National Scenographics Contest (2015) for the set construction of Anything Goes. The theatre department was recognized by the City of Gresham and Gresham-Barlow School District for the past two years for their State and National award winning accomplishments and pursuit of excellence in theatre education.
